There are two types of TV licence you can choose from – a colour licence or a cheaper black and white licence. From 1st April 2024, the price of a colour TV licence is £169.50, while a black and white licence costs just £57. A smart TV is any model that can connect to the internet. They let you stream films, shows and music through loads of different apps like Netflix, Disney+ or Spotify. A TV is usually measured in inches from the top left corner to the bottom right one. That gives you the total size of the screen. Common screen sizes include 43”, 55” and 60”, while 75” and above are also available for the cinematic experience at home.

A 4K or Ultra HD TV is any model that has a resolution of 3,840 horizontal pixels by 2,160 vertical pixels, giving you a total of around 8.3 million pixels. On average, if you watch your TV for a total of 3 hours a day, it’ll use around 493 Watts. There are lots of ways to save energy and cut the cost of your bills, like switching it off at the plug instead of leaving it on standby. Most TVs today also have eco-friendly settings like auto-brightness to help reduce power consumption.

We wouldn’t recommend using any sprays to clean your TV. The best solution for removing dust and smudges is to wipe them away with clean microfibre cloth. You can use a small amount of water to lightly dampen the cloth to clean the panel and body of the TV, then dry it with a fresh cloth.

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, and it’s responsible for the quality of colours and contrasts your TV can display. You’ll usually find HDR10 on most models, which uses a wider range of colours and greater levels of contrast to make images look much more realistic.

A QLED TV is any model than uses Quantum dot technology with an LED backlight to vastly improve the quality of colours and brightness. They give off different shades of light that are super precise, making the whole picture look incredibly lifelike. There’re a few things you’ll need to check before considering mounting a TV on your wall. First, you’ll need to check the wall you want to mount your TV on. Brick walls can support TVs of any size as long as you drill into the brick itself and you use heavy-duty wall anchors. For stud walls, you’ll need to install plasterboard fixings first. You’ll also want to check the area is clear of any pipes or cables.

Next, you’ll make sure you’ve got the right bracket. Most TVs use VESA measurements as a standard, so picking one that matches is easy. But for non-VESA models, you can buy a universal mounting bracket that aligns with the holes on the back of your TV. Keep in mind that bigger TVs will need better support.

Once that’s done, affix the correct part of your mount to the wall and attach the over half to the back of your TV. Then you’re ready to put them together, making sure everything is nice and secure.

There are a few different ways to tidy up trailing cables that don’t involve DIY. Some TVs come with built-in solutions like tubes, wraps or cable management boxes that make everything look much neater. You can also buy these separately, or try a cable raceway that attaches to your wall with minimal effort.

The best way to remove marks from a TV screen is to use a clean, dry microfibre cloth and gently wipe them away. We don’t recommend using any sort of spray or cleaners to do the job – they might make the smudge worse, or damage your telly!

It depends on my how much space you have to work with. If you’re going to be sitting 8 feet away from the screen, then 50” TVs are ideal.
