Volume 7, Part 3

ふたば君、初デート!?の巻
Futaba-kun hatsu deeto!? no maki

Futaba-kun's First Date!?

[The number one question in this story (and some of the proceeding ones as
well, is how to make the distinction between Futaba (written in hiragana)
and FUTABA (writen in romaji). This is particularly a problem when the
speaker is distinguishing between the girl student Futaba-chan and the
idol FUTABA.]

It's that Kurin girl who's the problem!

Negiri:

フン! 根性なしどもが
fun konjou nashi domo ga
hmph willpower without and yet/but

Hmph! What a bunch of wimps!

[There seems to be an implied continuation to this sentence. How does "domo ga" modify the meaing?]

4)

Negiri:

7)

しゅりしゅりしゅり
shuri-shuri-shuri

<Effect of rubbing short hair>

[I'm pretty sure this is the right meaning, I'd just like to think of the right word to express it.]

3)

Futaba:

この色紙の山は…
kono shikishi no yama wa
this paper of mountain <t>

This mountain of paper

ファンの人が欲しいと思ってくれたから集まったんだもん

atsumatta n da mon

was gathered together because people thought I wanted fans!

[I don't really understand this. What does "omotte kureru" really mean?]

4)

on short notice self-study became since before it's too late

It's a radio and magazine premium! ??

[I don't understand "jishuu ni natta" in this context. Maybe it means that to explain Futaba's absence, they told the teachers that she was off studying by herself. Seems like a stretch.]

5)

Futaba:

ヒィーッ

[I'm not exactly sure what feeling Futaba is expressing here.]
