[ Questions for version as of February 13, 1999 ] [ Last updated April 4, 1999 ] Volume 3, Part 1 ふたば君、勝ち残る!!の巻 Futaba-kun, kachi-nokoru!! no maki Futaba-kun Remains Undefeated! Page 9 1) Futaba: こ…こんなのありか? konna no ari ka such a thing exists ? Is this for real? [From the context he would appear to be asking if he really has to fight the plant or perhaps whether it's fair or not. Is "ari ka" related to "o-ari da", the colloquial honorific form of "aru"?] Page 13 1) Futaba: ぐぅ… guu 2) Futaba: っでええい!! guddei [As Futaba executes an escape throw. Is this a judo expression perhaps?] Page 20 6) Audrey 2: グクッ gukutt Gronk!! [Appears to be the roar of the animated plant. "Gronk" is similar to "honk" but louder and rougher (and funnier).] Page 24 4) Konishiki: ?? Calligraphy club: ?? どうわっ dou wa how How!? [As the martial-arts calligrapher flys through the air in defeat. Is this another martial arts expression?] Page 26 5) SFX: 酷技! 着ぐるみ固め (“スーツ・メーションホールド”) kokugi ki-gurumi katame (suutsu-meeshon hoorudo) harsh-technique suit of clothes hold suit-mission hold The "Suit-mission Hold" is a tough technique! [I'd just like to come up with a better phrase than "tough technique". I haven't been able to find kokugi in a dictionary, although the meaning appears clear from the kanji.]
